Christmas Jazz Pictures
December 29, 2009
The Christmas Jazz Party was another great night, despite being delayed by last week's weather. The band did an excellent job, led by Joel Buckner.
I've posted some pictures for those of you who weren't able to make it.
Garry Smith did a great job singing (as always).

Carrie Davidson's singing was a fantastic Christmas treat as well.

David Dietzman and Charles enjoyed the music and each other's company.

Jeff Miller, Mary and David Dowell seemed to enjoy it also.

My favorite picture of the night is of Becky and her ladies enjoying floor time.

Special thanks to Joel Buckner, Beth Smith and Donna Hardy for all of their work to make this night relaxing and enjoyable for everybody!

Welcome Joe and Amy
November 24, 2009
Grandview is happy to welcome Joe and Amy DiSantis into the family. Joe and Amy recently moved to Johnson City from the Chicago area. Please welcome them to Grandview and to the area when you get the chance.

Maggie Schade Chosen as Interim
November 20, 2009
Grandview is pleased to welcome Maggie Schade as interim children's minister. She will begin working parttime in December in order to ensure a smooth transition into the new year. She will be on staff fulltime beginning in January and will remain on staff through April.
Maggie has already been working with our children's program as an intern to Dana Miller. Please pray for her as she steps into this new role.
Meanwhile, the search committee for the new Children's Minister is being formed and will be announced as soon as possible.

Dana Miller Resigns
November 11, 2009
Over the past decade Grandview has been blessed to have Dana Miller as our children's minister and we will miss her considerable gifts as she steps out of this position. Under her care and administration the children's program has grown to new heights. Dana will continue on staff through the end of the year. She and her family plan to remain at Grandview once her time on staff has ended.
Please be in prayer as the elders prepare to place an interim children's minister to fill the void. Once the interim minister is in place, the elders will review the job description, put together a search team, and begin the full search process. The goal is to have the new children's minister in place by the end of spring.
Updates on the process will be posted in this space, in the newsletter, and announced during the worship services. If you have any questions, please contact an elder. If you have any candidates you would like to suggest, please have them send their resumes to the church office, care of the children's minister search team (which has yet to be formed!).
Thank you, Dana, for your service to Grandview.
Grandview's Youth To Return To Mexico
October 18, 2009
After a great trip in June of this year, the senior high youth of Grandview will be returning to Puebla, Mexico for their summer mission trip in 2010. This trip will further our partnership with Nathan and Erin McDade and the El Pozo Campus Ministry. Next year's trip will take place on June 19-27 and registration has begun for all students currently in 8-12 grades. The deadline to sign up for this trip is Sunday, December 6th and further details can be had by contacting Ryan Bader.
Welcome David New and Joyce Iverson.
September 28, 2009
Yesterday was a fine day at Grandview. David New was immersed and has joined Grandview. Many of you know David. His wife, Jennifer, grew up at Grandview and they have one son, Jackson. David is a graduate of Maryville College and is originally from the Knoxville area.

Also joining Grandview yesterday was Joyce Iverson (not pictured). Joyce is a graduate of Johnson Bible College who now attends Emmanuel School of Religion. She has been worshiping with Grandview for two years now.
Welcome to all!
Welcome, Emily!
September 20, 2009
Emily Weeks became a member on Sunday, but she isn't new to Grandview. She has been involved with the missions team and with the youth for a long time now. A native of Savannah, Georgia, Emily married Travis this past summer. They are Emmanuel students preparing for the mission field.
You might remember Emily's sister, Rebecca Bistis, who was a member of Grandview before moving away a couple of years ago.
Welcome, Emily. We look forward to serving alongside you and Travis.
