Reaching out in relationships
Additional Information
For more information regarding the Reaching Out in Relationships program, please contact the church office at 423.928.7866 or by email.
Be willing to take the initiative. Initiative is the key to getting to know others, to serving and to deepening your walk with God. The 3 People diagram on this page is a simple reminder that God calls us to serve others, outside the church. The idea is that you and another Christian (or more than one other Christian) get together, go into the community and serve. By serving with others, your relationships within the church will grow deeper, even as you build relationships with people outside the church. Also, you will be modeling God-honoring relationships for people who may not know much about how healthy relationships look
For this service to have a shot at being meaningful and life-changing, it will need to be an ongoing commitment.
Grandview is always on the lookout for partners in this endeavor. So far, the Interfaith Hospitality Network and the Johnson City Adult Education program have been the two that have worked the best.
To participate, find someone you would like to get to know better and then ask if he or she is willing to join you in finding a regular area of service outside the church. If you would like to be a tutor/assistant in the Adult Education program, if you would like to be a mentor in the Interfaith Hospitality Network, just call the church office or email and we will begin the process.
Maybe you don't know anyone to ask to serve alongside you. If that's the case, call or email the church office and we'll find someone to be on your team.
The process isn't immediate; sometimes it takes just a little time to find the right person to mentor or the right time slot for tutoring. But if you volunteer you'll discover that God uses selfless acts of service in powerful ways—in your life and in the lives of others.
