Garry was born and raised inAurora, IL.  He graduated from Milligan College with a B.A. in the Humanities.  After working in Wichita, Kansas for Cessna and Boeing for five years, he began teaching art at Bluff City Elementary School in 1983. Beth Bartchy Smith was born in Tipton, IN and raised in Massachusetts and Germany.  She too attended Milligan, but earned degrees in Art Education and German Literature from Wichita State University, graduating with honors.  Garry and Beth were married in 1979.  Christopher, Collin and Katie, their wonderful kids, join in with gusto.  The Smiths joined the staff here in 2002.
